User scenario

User scenario

• couple of days - ALL USERS - plays with the system and gathers data - see User activities.
• 3 group of users
  • TEST 1 - compare two groups.
    • Group 1 - answer 3 questions using internet (or only google, del.icio.us) without notitio.us
    • Group 2 - answer 3 questions using internet and with help from notitio.us
  • TEST 2 - compare two groups
    • Group 2 - answer 3 questions using internet and with help from notitio.us
    • Group 3 - answer 3 questions using internet and with help from notitio.us enriched with suggested content.
• Questions type (in each round):
  • 2 deeply connected with a domain. (don't know what to do with Kasia's group that hasn't IT background)
  • 1 connected two general knowledge (i.e. "Mozart question")

User activities

Below we present what would be standard user activities in the system. More details and screenshots could be found in http://notitio.us/pages/help.jsp.

• Register into http://notitio.us (http://notitio.us/register.jsp)
• Edit your profile to add new friends from the system
  1. go to the http://notitio.us/profile.jsp
  2. press "Click to change list of people you know and find new friends" link
  3. Press Add friend button - you will see new line with empty friend fields. You need to pass the mbox of the friend. Other fields are optional. Friendship level could range from 0 to 1 (so it should be something like 0.15, 0.5, 0.83, etc)
  4. There is also possibility to add friend from the people available in the system. Go to the bottom of the page and select friend you want to add. Press Save profile to save changes.

• Add buttons suitable for your web browser
  1. Go to the http://notitio.us/pages/plugin.html and follow the instructions there.

• Go to your bookmarks page - http://notitio.us/bookmarks
• Create some directories:
  1. Fill the name and/or description of the directory (description is optional)
  2. Add semantic annotation:
     • WordNet: click the WordNet button, system will generate the concepts matching directory name and description. Select most suitable ones.
     • Taxonomies: Currently there are 3 available. Press the name of taxonomy you want to use, then select the concepts by clicking the star. Clicking the name of the concept will show you next level of taxonomy.
  3. Save the directory by pressing Save.

• Add bookmarks manually:
  1. Go to your bookmarks page - http://notitio.us/bookmarks
  2. Press Add Web page link.
  3. Fill page URL (remember to add http://) and name. Description of the page is optional.
  4. Select directories in which you want to put the bookmark (by selecting the checkbox beside directory icon).
  5. Press Add to selected directories button.

• Add bookmarks with button/plug-in
  1. While browsing some interesting page press post to notitio.us bookmarks button in you browser.
  2. You will be redirected to the your bookmarks page, url and name should be filled automatically.
  3. You can add the description
  4. Select directories in which you want to put the bookmark (by selecting the checkbox beside directory icon).
  5. Press Add to selected directories button.
