[edit]
Minutes
[edit]
Marcin
- an ontology for MarcOnt has reached the first working draft status, see: http://www.marcont.org/pages/public.jsp?doc=project
- in the last few days we were concentrated on [wiki:Articles/ECDL2005Demo MarcOnt Mediation Service]:
- native, legacy formats are translated in to XML, than RDF, and finally to MarcOnt ontology with the set of predefined rules.
- so far there is no tool for generating the set of rules, but the work has been started.
[edit]
Lech
- so far there was no time to dig into the current state of MarcOnt ontology, but he and PaweÃÂ ÃÂ will try to catch up soon
- Lech and PaweÃÂ ÃÂ will concentrate on ppractical approach to ontology (and rules) evaluation and further development. They will use MARC21 descriptions existing in WBSS database, and check if all the information provided there can be covered by the current ontology. The will suggest changes that would extend the ontology so that at least descriptions from WBSS can be covered. The will add rules for MARC21-MMarcOnttranslation based on experience gained during the work with WBSS descriptions.
[edit]
Marcin
- send links to MarcOnt and MarcOnt ontology:
[edit]
Sebastian
- suggested use of CVS and Protege to work directly on OWL description of rules
[edit]
Marcin
- sent address to:
- Protege project: http://protege.stanford.edu/
- CVS repository: CVSROOT=:ext:nazwa_uzytkownika@cvs.sf.net:/cvsroot/marcont module=ontology
[edit]
Sebastian
- asked for sourceforge.net logins from Lech and Paweïÿý, so that he could add them as developers to MarcOnt project The registration page to sf.net is: http://sourceforge.net/account/newuser_emailverify.php
- asked to move the communication to marcont-list@lists.deri.org, so that other people involved in MarcOnt project could participate in discussions and help to resolve the problems faster. The registration page for that mailing list is: http://lists.deri.org/mailman/listinfo/marcont-list
[edit]
Marcin
- MarcOnt Mediation Service will be published at the MarcOnt web site till the end of the week
- The good tutorial on ontologies is at Protege page: http://protege.stanford.edu/publications/ontology_development/ontology101-noy-mcguinness.html
Everyone agreed on the next meeting at the end of next week, since Marcin and Sebastian will be unreachable between Mary, 21-28th.
JeromeDL conversation was brought up:
- the issue of the installation of JeromeDL in Warsaw is has been restarted
- it would good idea to have JeromeDL installation for "Zeszyty Naukowe" at ATR (Bydgoszcz, Poland), as it would cover publications from many polish universities.
- it has been agreed that Sebastian will submit a paper to "InfoBazy"
- definition of JeromeAdmin Web Services Interface has been prepared
