Project goal is to deliver new features for the Jerome Digital Library. This will include support for new media format, accessibility with standard protocols, extending resources access model and research on mapping bibliograpic format MARC21 into internal data structures.

JeromeDL is an innovative semantic digital library engine. It utilizes latest results in the Semantic Web research. Developed as a joined project between the Main Library of Gdansk University of Technology and Digital Enterprise Research Institute (Galway, Ireland, www.deri.org) JeromeDL is now deployed in production in a number of locations.

Current development of JeromeDL will include adding innovative information retrieval techniques and extending high quality searching and browsing features. JeromeDL will support new file types, additional metadata formats and offer improved user experience.

Contents

Tasks:

  1. Implement full video support
    • with annotations,
    • flow control,
    • time-tags,
    • displaying related content.
  2. Implement support for collaborative photos annotations
    • regions of interest
    • asynchronous collaborative annotations
    • "annealing" annotations
  3. Implement and test OAI-PMH protocol access to JeromeDL
  4. Provide access control checking and defining for resources
  5. Deliver full support for MARC21 Main Library of GUT use case
